The Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, together with its 34 branches across the province, hosted a raft of activities to promote public awareness of biosafety on April 15.

The activities included holding thematic education sessions at schools, setting up bio-safety posters, shooting micro films and non-commercial advertisements and giving out delicately-made promotional handicrafts such as fans and bookmarks.

To make the event more influential, the Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau worked together with tourism, forestry, transport and agriculture departments in the province, hosted various volunteer activities, and invited local NPC deputies and CPPCC members to visit inspection and quarantine bureaus.

Biosafety is the prevention of large-scale loss of biological integrity, focusing both on ecology and human health. Prevention mechanisms include conduction of regular reviews of biosafety in laboratory settings, as well as following of strict guidelines. Failures to follow such protocols can lead to increased risk of exposure to biohazards or pathogens.
