Maoming's foreign trade rises by over 63% in Jan-May

The total value of exports and imports in Maoming saw a year-on-year increase of 63.5 percent to 7.45 billion yuan ($1.15 billion) in the first five months of 2021, according to statistics recently released by Maoming Customs.

The city's export value in the first five months of this year was 5.5 billion yuan, an increase of 55.4 percent year on year, while its import value reached 1.95 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 91.7 percent.

In terms of enterprise categories, the imports and exports of private enterprises in Maoming in the first five months of this year saw an increase of 59.4 percent to 6.15 billion yuan, comprising 82.5 percent of the city's total foreign trade.

Foreign-funded enterprises in Maoming had a total import-export volume of 1.13 billion yuan, a 79.7 percent year-on-year increase and 15.1 percent of the city's total foreign trade. The import and export of State-owned enterprises reached 100 million yuan, up 135.6 percent year on year.

In terms of trade methods, the imports and exports of general trade from January to May saw an increase of 60.4 percent to 6.65 billion yuan, or 89.3 percent of Maoming's total foreign trade. The import and export total of bonded logistics reached 510 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 627.9 percent.

In the first five months, Maoming exported 1.08 billion yuan of aquatic and marine products, up 21.5 percent year on year. The export of garments and clothing accessories amounted to 380 million yuan, up 44.8 percent, while that of lamps and lanterns, lighting devices and their parts amounted to 320 million yuan, increasing by 110.8 percent.

The city imported 820 million yuan of petrochemical products, up 472.4 percent year on year. Imports of coal were 320 million yuan, up 677.5 percent, while those of garments and clothing accessories totaled 230 million yuan, increasing by 50.2 percent.

Over the period, the city's imports and exports to the United States reached 2.11 billion yuan, up 93.8 percent year on year, which those to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations was 1.31 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.5 percent.
