Heyuan

Heyuan is a prefectural-level city located in the northeast of South China's Guangdong province. The city boasts rich water resources and the two biggest hydropower stations in Guangdong -- Xinfengjiang Station and Fengshuba Station.

Heyuan has various and high quality mineral resources and is regarded as a treasury in east of Guangdong. At present, more than 40 kinds of minerals have been surveyed in the city.

By virtue of numerous valuable dinosaur fossils unearthed in its vicinity, it has recently been crowned with the title of the "Hometown of the Dinosaur in China".

Heyuan is abundant in sunshine and is an ideal habitat for much wildlife. The city is home to 27,055 kinds of wild plants and 1,959 kinds of mushrooms.

In Heyuan, plants such as Cathaya and Chinese yew have been listed under national first-class protection and animals such as the golden cat and pangolin are listed under national second-class protection.

The Heyuan government has for a long time been committed to nature conservation. It had set up 52 natural reserves by the end of 2022.
