Shanwei

Shanwei is located in eastern Guangdong, South China, and borders the South China Sea. The city is noted for its mineral resources, aquatic products and salt. There are more than 20 varieties of minerals found in the city, such as iron pyrite, wolfram, tin, quartz sand, to name but a few. The annual production of aquatic products exceeds 600,000 metric tons and for crude salt, it surpasses 60,000 tons.

Shanwei is a place to enjoy life to the maximum, owing the Haili International Golf Club, the only beach golf course in China of international standard, and Pinqing Lake Tourist Resort, the only coastal lagoon in China.

Shanwei Port is an open port in China, 81 sea miles (93.21 miles) away from Hong Kong in the southwest and only 12 sea miles (13.81 miles) to Pacific international lines. Its favorable geographic location helps the city connect to a large number of locations around the world.

Benefited from its clean air and unique tourism resources, Shanwei is a perfect place for beach sports, yachting, and hot springs. The Zhelang Peninsula at the Red Bay in Shanwei held events during the 2010 Asian Games and is now a famous sea sports base in Guangdong.

Shanwei is also home to profound and diverse culture, including Chaoshan, Minnan, Cantonese, and Hakka culture. There are nine items listed as National Intangible Cultural Heritages, and 30 Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritages by June 2022.
