Maoming's eco-environment greatly improves over 5 years

Over the past five years, the city has carried out pest control on 610,000 mu (40,666.67 hectares) of forest land, keeping the pest disaster rate below 0.4 percent. Construction of the Linzhouding crocodile lizard provincial nature reserve has been advanced to protect terrestrial wildlife and preserve biodiversity.

The rural revitalization strategy has been boosted in the city along with the improvement of its ecological environment, promoting the rapid development of the forestry industry.

By the end of 2020, the city had two national key leading forestry enterprises, 13 provincial-level leading forestry enterprises, seven provincial specialized cooperatives, one provincial demonstration family farm, and one provincial forest health care base.

Its total output value of forestry was 22.04 billion yuan ($3.41 billion) in 2020, which is an increase of 27 percent compared with that in 2015.

Infrastructure construction in forest farms have also been promoted in the past five years. All the working areas, management and protection stations have got access to water, electricity and internet.

Maoming has also built a video monitoring system for forest fire prevention, as well as four professional forest fire fighting teams with 160 members.
