The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) opened to traffic Oct 24, and here are some travel tips for Zhanjiang residents who plan a self-driving journey to Hong Kong or Macao.

1. Passengers/vehicles that can use the bridge

The bridge is open only to passengers with an Exit-Entry Permit for Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macao.

Only vehicles with Guangdong-Hong Kong, Hong Kong-Macao, or Hong Kong license plates (with Macao quota), within the one-off quota or approved by each of the three governments are authorized to use the bridge.

2. On which side of road should vehicles run

Vehicles should keep to the right of the road in the mainland and follow route guidance to switch to the left after having passed the boundary checkpoints in Hong Kong or Macao.

3. Speed limits

The bridge's main section is designed to handle a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour.
