Hakka culture expo ends in Guangdong
A week-long cultural expo promoting traditional Hakka culture and related creative industries ended on Monday in Meizhou, a city located in the mountains of Guangdong province.
More than 130 cultural creative companies from Germany, Indonesia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as those from the Chinese mainland, displayed their latest products and ideas featuring Hakka culture during the expo.
There are some 120 million Hakka people living in more than 70 countries and regions, according to the organizers.
Meizhou is home to millions of Hakka people, whose ancestors were believed to have moved from central China to the south centuries ago.
An award ceremony for a global movie contest featuring Hakka culture was also held during the expo.
