Zhanjiang enterprises clinched more than $65 million worth of deals and cooperation pledges during the first phase of China's oldest, largest, and most important international trade event from April 15 to 17.

The 123rd China Import & Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is currently underway in Guangzhou. Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and Guangdong provincial government, the fair has been held every spring and autumn since 1957. This year, it has attracted 25,171 exhibitors from both home and abroad to display their products.

The Zhanjiang delegation is comprised of 54 local enterprises from different fields such as household appliances, hardware, construction materials, gadgets and electronic consumables. Among them, 22 are household appliance manufacturers, accounting for 40.7 percent of the total.

According to Huang Chunshi, director of the Foreign Trade Department of Guangdong Weking Group, this year's turnover looks hopeful. As of April 17, the company had raked in more than $8 million yuan. It is estimated that its household appliance sales volume will surpass last year by $1 million yuan.

Zhanjiang household appliances, especially rice cookers, have an established reputation and lead the world in output and market share. In 2017, Zhanjiang manufactured 206 million rice cookers, 60 percent of the international output, which were sold to 122 countries and regions.
