This marks the second time that the Guangzhou carmaker has delivered cars to the Nigerian police. The first order came from the Lagos police department in 2015.

The Nigerian police were reported to have spoken highly of the powerful and intelligent design and excellent safety features of the GA3S, while also stating that model's style, design and customized smart safety features can be adapted to suit the complex needs of police cars.

"GAC Motor has successfully brought a variety of signature models to Nigeria, receiving bulk purchase orders from local governments due to its quality and positive brand image," remarked Yu Jun, president of GAC Motor. "This latest cooperation will accelerate our further expansion into the Nigerian market."

To better adapt to market developments in Africa, GAC Motor is constantly optimizing its vehicle designs based on local road conditions to guarantee reliable quality and performance, according to Yu.

And most models have been specifically adjusted to perform well on bumpy and muddy roads, for example, by adding higher chassis to improve passing clearance.

Due to its excellent product quality and high adaptability within the African market, GAC Motor has won the favor of local consumers and has been the best-selling Chinese brand in Nigeria, he noted.

GAC Motor achieved this market success by adhering to a philosophy of quality-first. For five years in a row, the company has ranked first among all Chinese brands in J.D. Power Asia's IQS study, while its GS8, the most popular model in Nigeria, received a five-star rating from C-NCAP (China-New Car Assessment Program).

GAC Motor has also established strategic partnerships with the world's top suppliers and recruited top talent to strictly monitor quality and boost its market expansion into Africa and the rest of the world.

Milestone for GAC Motor in African market

In late 2014, GAC Motor opened its first dealership in Nigeria, with a second one following in 2016.

In 2016, GAC Motor established a SKD (semi knocked-down) factory in Nigeria, becoming the first Chinese auto brand to have parts assembled locally.

In 2017, the Nasarawa State government made a bulk purchase of GS8s, GS4s and GA3Ss to be used as official reception vehicles.

In February 2018, GAC Motor's signature model, the GS8, was introduced in Nigeria.
