Nansha eyes world-leading AI industrial cluster
Nansha district in Guangzhou will finish establishing a world-leading artificial intelligence (AI) industrial cluster by 2020, form a group of dynamic and sustainable AI businesses and build a national leading artificial intelligence city model.
The remark was made by Zeng Jinze, head of the district at an international round-table conference held in Nansha from June 23 to 24.

More than 100 AI experts attended the conference, sharing their insights on AI technology frontier exploration and industry development status and trends and offering their suggestions for AI development in the city of Guangzhou.
Chen Zhiying, vice-mayor of Guangzhou, also attended the conference. Chen gave thumbs-up to Guangzhou's achievements since the inception of the international AI conference last year, which included the city's talent, land and capital support for AI development, the promotion of AI applications in livelihood projects and advantageous industries and the increasingly large scale of AI cluster.

At the conference, another 37 companies signed cooperation agreements with the Guangzhou International Institute of Artificial Intelligence. They include nine led by academicians and seven led by returned overseas talent groups.
Guangzhou Smart Equipment Industry Group, the Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the fifth electronic research institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) also signed cooperation agreements with the institute.
