CHTF Overseas Event held in Ireland, Croatia and Serbia

The China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) held overseas events in Ireland, Croatia, and Serbia in the middle of June, carrying out various activities to enhance international exchange and cooperation on business and technology.

Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, attended the overseas events with a delegation consisting of more than 60 Chinese representatives from Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Shanghai.

Co-organized by the CHTF Organizing Committee, Enterprise Ireland, Croatia Chamber of Economy, and Serbian Chamber of Commerce, participants at the forums conducted discussions and exchanges in the fields of electronics, information communications, high-end manufacturing, and financial investment.

China Hi-tech Fair in Ireland

Chinese Ambassador to Ireland He Xiangdong, Irish State Minister for Business Enterprise and Innovation Pat Breen T.D., and Shenzhen Vice Mayor Chen Biao delivered speeches at the Irish forum. Zhou Mingwu, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, promoted Shenzhen, while Su Yanwei, Deputy Director of the CHTF Organizing Committee Office, introduced the China Hi-Tech Fair.

Entrepreneurs of China and Ireland discussed challenges and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries at the Forum, conducting in-depth exchanges, sharing insights, as well as providing new guidelines and ideas for the cooperation and development of China and Ireland.

To help Chinese enterprises get a better understanding of Ireland, the ‘Discover Ireland’ seminar was held. Declan Hughes, Assistant Secretary General of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, gave an overview of the agencies and the economic outlook of Ireland. Kevin Sherry, Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland, detailed how Enterprise Ireland helps Irish innovative companies achieve global success. Bernadette Nulty, manager of Growth Markets, IDA Ireland, discussed how Ireland is the right destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) from China. Ruth Freeman, director of Science for Society, Science Foundation Ireland, presented Irish leading-edge technology and the support they give to Irish enterprises. A Q&A session and a buffet lunch were also included in the event.

In Ireland, Chen Biao held talks with Pat Breen T.D., State Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation; Declan Hughes, Assistant Secretary General of Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation; and Kevin Sherry, Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland to strengthen bilateral exchanges and promote cooperation between the two sides in the fields of science, technology, and trade.

He Xiangdong said at the forum that he hopes the two sides will promote international cooperation through the powerful resources platform of CHTF 2019 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland.

China Hi-Tech Fair in Croatia

At the CHTF event in Croatia, Mr. Mario Antonić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia, State Secretary Mr. Zdenko Lucić, Shenzhen Vice Mayor Chen Biao, and Economic Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Croatia Liu Kai delivered speeches. Zhou Mingwu, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, promoted Shenzhen, while Su Yanwei, Deputy Director of the CHTF Organizing Committee Office, introduced the China Hi-Tech Fair.

Promotional speeches about Shenzhen and the CHTF were made at the forum when CHTF events were held in Croatia. Enterprises promotions were also held at the forum. Mr. Tomislav Radoš, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, made a speech on ‘New Opportunities of the Croatia-China Cooperation on Belt & Road,’ and Mr. Zdenko Lucić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of Croatia, introduced business opportunities in Croatia. Shenzhen Bay Technology Development Co., Zhuhai Ziyan UAV Co., Dok-ing d.o.o., Guangdong Flying Enterprise Internet Technology Co., Ltd. and Altpro d.o.o. made company presentations.

In Croatia, Chen Biao held talks with Mr. Mario Antonić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia, State Secretary Mr. Zdenko Lucić, and Vice-President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy Mr. Tomislav Radoš exchanges on strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the fields of information and communication, energy, and technology transfer intensified. The two countries have since strengthened cooperation in those fields.

Mr. Mario Antonić, also stressed at the forum that CHTF in Croatia is the best platform for companies from both countries to seek more cooperation.

China Hi-Tech Fair in Serbia

In Serbia, Head of Center for Asia, RF, and CIS of Commerce and Industry of Serbia introduced Serbia and China’s economic cooperation. The Belgrade Science and Technology Park gave a comprehensive introduction to the existing industrial system, as well as preferential policies and key enterprises in the park, arranging enterprises to share their successful experience in investment development in Serbia. The enterprises of China and Serbia communicated and shared experiences on the transformation of production, education and research, as well as park management.

Chen Biao worked together with Dragan Ugrcic, Acting Assistant Minister of Ministry of Economy of Serbia, in a meeting to explore potential cooperation between Serbia and Shenzhen in the areas of technology, innovation, finance, and trade. Chen and the delegation also met the Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo. Chen Bo noted that China will hold a technology innovation conference with 16 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Greece, in Serbia in October this year. He welcomed the participation of Chinese enterprises in the conference.

CHTF overseas events have held more than 200 matchmaking meetings in total. Entrepreneurs from China have reached a number of intentions of cooperation on projects in the fields of information and communication, electronics, as well as energy and environmental protection with counterparts from Ireland, Croatia, and Serbia.

Zhuhai Winbabe International Chemical Tank Terminal Co and Croatia Domitran Chemical Storage Company reached an intention of cooperation. China Electronics Import and Export Zhuhai Co and its partners in Croatia and Ireland reached an intention of cooperation order for coffee and processed products, air purifier procurement, as well as other projects. Guangdong Flying Enterprise Internet Technology Co and Ireland OpenJaw Technology Co reached an intention of cooperation on R&D in the joint construction of an aviation database, as well as an operation and maintenance management system. XH Smart Tech reached an initial intention of cooperation with Ireland OpenJaw Technology Company on group member customer card issuance and payment projects.
