Andy Murray, a three-time Grand Slam winner, two-time Olympic champion, and former world's Number 1 player, will compete in the 2019 Zhuhai Championships at Hengqin International Tennis Center from Sept 23 to 29.

The Brit, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 15, 1987, is the first tennis player in the history of the Olympic Games to twice win gold in singles competitions.

Murray started playing tennis at age 3. He has since won 45 singles titles, including three Grand Slam championships, a title at the ATP Finals, 14 Masters 1000 Series titles, and two Olympic gold medals.

"As I look to play more singles events later in the year, I'm happy to announce I'll be playing at the inaugural Zhuhai Championships on the week of Sept 23," Murray said. "I always enjoy playing in China and it's meant to be a great city, close to Macao and Hong Kong, with an impressive stadium."

Murray underwent hip surgery in February after five months off from tennis. Then, in June, he made a formal come-back by partnering with renowned Spanish player Feliciano Lopez to win the doubles title at Queen's Club, London.

The 2019 Zhuhai Championships will be the first event for Murray in China this year. The 32-year-old will compete with other stars such as Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece, Gael Monfils from France, and Nicholas Kyrgios from Australia.
