Guangzhou, Spain see bright future
A storytelling event between Spain and China, the last stop in Guangzhou's tour of Europe, was held on Sept 8 in Madrid, Spain, attracting over 100 guests from both countries.
The storytelling events in Europe, which have also been held in Italy, Greece, are expected to showcase an open China under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Co-organized by the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangdong province and the Radio and Television Administration of Guangdong province, the event was undertaken by the Guangzhou information office.
Thanks to the ancient Silk Road, trade between Spain and China started over 2,000 years ago, with frequent trade carried out after the launch of the ancient maritime Silk Road more than 400 years ago.
Guangzhou, as the capital city of Guangdong province, has become sister cities with Spanish cities like Barcelona and Valencia.
"Guangdong province and Guangzhou are willing to cooperate with Spain in pushing forward the BRI construction," said Bai Jie, executive deputy director general of the Information Office of the Guangdong Provincial Government.
"Guangzhou's storytelling event has become a brand for promoting the city on the global stage," said Zhu Xiaoyi, director of the Guangzhou publicity department.
