(chinadaily.com.cn) Update:2019-11-27

The second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cantonese Cuisine Master Skills Competition is set to take place in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong province, on Nov 29-30.

Chefs from 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macao will then compete with each other.

According to Yang Hongshan, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, this year's competition will have 12 more cities taking part than last year.

This year's competition will have three major events, namely competitions for masters and rookies of Cantonese cuisine, as well as a selection of quality Cantonese dishes.

The top six contestants in the three events will be awarded a prize by the competition's organizing committee.

In addition, exhibitions, performances and experiential activities for food-related intangible cultural heritages will be available at the competition site.

Keynote speeches, on-site discussions and exchange meetings on the development of the Cantonese cuisine industry will also take place at the same time.

It is expected that the competition will set up a platform for skills display, cultural exchanges and industrial integration -- aiming to train more skilled people in Cantonese cuisine and promote the comprehensive development of Cantonese cuisine industry.
