China's leading international toy exhibition Toy & Edu China will move to Shenzhen from next year on, recently announced Li Zhuoming, chairman of the Guangdong Toy Association.
Having been held annually in Guangzhou for 31 years, next year's event will be renamed the Shenzhen International Toy and Education Fair. It will be held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center from March 6 to 8.
"More than 5,000 booths have been booked thus far, and the exhibition area is expected to reach 160,000 square meters next year, a growth of 36 percent from the previous one held in Guangzhou in April," said Li.
As a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a core city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen is full of vitality and development opportunities, as it is upgrading its industrial structure, Li noted.
The success of e-commerce firms in Shenzhen, which are considered conducive to exports, is also among the reasons why the trade fair is being relocated to the city, added Li.
Shenzhen has more than 150,000 cross-border e-commerce companies. Additionally, "the exhibitions and e-commerce sectors are entitled to special supports from the city government," Li explained, adding that Shenzhen also has the world's largest and best equipped exhibition complex.
According to Li, China's toy makers, mostly based in Guangdong, reaped better results than expected in the first 10 months of this year. The province's toy exports amounted to $14.57 billion in the first three quarters of this year, a year-on-year growth of 3.49 percent.
