From January to October this year, Zhanjiang's key projects completed an investment of 38.34 billion yuan ($5.48 billion), 85 percent of the annual plan, among which the provincial key projects completed an investment of 30.34 billion yuan, reaching 89.6 percent of the annual plan.

The key projects that were established in the city, such as the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base, the relocation project of Zhanjiang Airport, the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, and the channel expansion project of Zhanjiang Port, have become the "accelerators" for Zhanjiang's economic and social development. The project construction not only brings vitality to the regional economy and enhances the economic development potential, but also greatly promotes Zhanjiang's economic growth.

In September of this year, 36 projects in Zhanjiang were launched or completed in a concentrated manner, with a total investment of 77.6 billion yuan. To date, 32 projects have started construction and nine projects have been completed.

At present, Zhanjiang welcomes a series of major opportunities to accelerate development. The CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Government clearly support Zhanjiang to create a provincial sub-central city and a new economic growth hub in the province. The province has driven Zhanjiang on the fast track for development by showing strong support in major transportation infrastructure construction, major port industry layout, and financial transfer payments.
