Guangdong in South China confirmed 82 new cases of novel coronavirus as of midnight Thursday, pushing the total number of infected patients to 354, according to the province's 5th press conference on its fight against the novel coronavirus-infected pneumonia (2019-nCoV) in Guangzhou on Thursday.

Chaozhou and Yunfu had so far had none cases, while Guangzhou and Zhuhai had their first recovered cases on Thursday.

Healthy people don't need to change a masks if it's used just for one time

The Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests residents wear a surgical mask when taking public transportation or going to public places, and need not use mask when there is no intensive interpersonal contact. However, when respiratory infection symptoms show (for example, fever), people need to wear a mask at home or in the hospital. A mask doesn't need not to be changed if it is used just for one time.

Gym, bar, and swimming pool closed in Guangzhou

Li Ming, vice- mayor of Guangzhou, announced that Guangzhou the city has canceled mass activities and closed indoor cultural venues.

Except restaurants and hotels, Guangzhou shut down swimming pools, chess and cards rooms, gyms, bars, and billiards rooms, according to the Guangzhou bureau of culture, radio, television and tourism.

Subways linking Guangzhou South Railway Station with city downtown to extend service time

During the peak of the Spring Festival rush, subways at Guangzhou South Railway Station will extend its service time by 75 minutes to 012:45 am. Moreover, 1,600 taxis and eight night bus lines (four to Guangzhou's Panyu district and four to its downtown areas) will be arranged in place to help passengers who come back to Guangzhou.

22 hotels to receive people from Hubei

According to the Guangzhou tourism administration, the city has arranged 22 hotels as the designated reception hotels for people from Central China's Hubei province, a high-risk area of for novel coronavirus, covering all of its 11 districts.

These hotels only receive people from Hubei who are in good health and with normal body temperature. By Jan 30Thursday there were about 60 people from Hubei living in these hotels.

For those coming from Hubei after Jan 22 with permanent residence, Guangzhou has imposed a 14-day home quarantine medical observation to them. For those without a permanent residence, the city also has also quarantined them in hotels or sanatoriums, and imposed medical observations. During the quarantine period, they will accept have their body temperature taken twice per day.
