Guangdong college takes global approach to education
Kong Fanzheng, dean of the Business School, said the globalization of the marketing major has been a big part of the globalization process of the college. It can meet the demands of the agriculture cultivation industry and the modern agriculture industry in Guangdong, he said, noting that Guangdong Guangken Rubber Group, a State-owned company, could particularly benefit when going global.
The group began setting up factories in Thailand in 2005, and has invested in more than 40 companies in BRI countries including Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos and Singapore. It became the world's largest operator with a complete industry chain for natural rubber in 2016.
The group has robust demands for marketing professionals that are familiar with global markets, said the dean.
Zeng Meifen, from the college's marketing department, said the marketing-related majors in AIB College are specialized in the globalization of the curricular arrangement, teaching materials, talent quality, professional faculty and bilingual teaching.
In terms of curricular arrangement, the marketing department has introduced a series courses developed by the Business & Technology Education Council of the United Kingdom, which set up a model example among vocational colleges in China.
In terms of teaching materials, the book International Business Negotiation, in which Zeng acted as deputy editor, has been used since September 2017. The book collects many international business negotiation examples for students to discuss and create simulated negotiations from.
In terms of talent quality, the college has selected students for internships in Southeast Asian countries or carried out exchange programs with the leading vocational colleges in those countries.
Qin Cong, deputy dean of the business school, said the college has set up an international exchange and cooperation center with the Marketing Institute of Singapore and University College of Technology Sarawak of Malaysia.
It also established Southeast Asian learning centers in Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia, Qin said.
In terms of professional faculties, the college has trained and introduced teachers with bilingual teaching ability.
A total of 38 teachers have been dispatched to the United States for training and exchanges, growing the pillar strength of the college in globalization.
