Exhibition on Raffaello's works opens in China's Guangzhou
A digital exhibition on the works of Raffaello Sanzio, also dubbed Renaissance master, kicked off Thursday in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
Titled "The Art of Raffaello: Opera Omnia," the exhibition is jointly organized by the Guangzhou Library and the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou. Life-size reproductions of 36 creations by the Italian artist are on display in high definition at the event.
The creations embody different phases of Raffaello's artistic endeavor, ranging from "Madonna and Child," one of his very first paintings, to "The Transfiguration," on which he was working during the last days of his life.
Though last year marked the 500th year death anniversary of Raffaello, many commemorative events that were slated to be organized globally by Italy's foreign ministry were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, noted Lucia Pasqualini, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou.
"As one of the official commemorative activities, the exhibition offers an insight into Raffaello's talent," said Fang Jiazhong, curator of Guangzhou Library.
The exhibition runs through April 25, during which a series of activities such as guided tours, lectures, art workshops will also be held.
