The Maoming sub-event of the 2021 South China Book Festival will take place in the city from Aug 20 to 30.

The event is aimed at helping Maoming residents enjoy the pleasure of reading, promoting the in-depth development of reading within the city, and further mold Maoming into a National Civilized City.

This year's event will be carried out both online and offline. The main venue for offline activities will take place at the Hedong branch of Xinhua Bookstore, and the festival will be held at other venues such as Maoming Library, Xinhua Bookstore outlets, and private bookstores around the city.

The South China Book Festival and Xinhua Read-through mini-programs on WeChat, which are a series of online activities that include book exhibitions, book sales and livestreaming, are offered during the festival.

In addition, more than 20 offline activities will take place during the festival's main event and at other venues in Maoming.

They include book exhibitions and sales, children's reading practice, a themed speech competition, a mobile phone photography competition, reading-themed musical performances, screening of revolutionary films, book discussion activities, on-site calligraphy activities, a Party history knowledge contest, and book exchange and donation activities.
