What makes Shenzhen a tech hub in China?
"The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is for business and trade, the rules can pair with the business and everything goes efficient. Foreign companies are coming to these cities because when we think of these rules, how to register for a company, how to trade with the Chinese people in this market, it is very easy to understand each other." Bekar Mikaberidze, Chairman of Guangzhou Branch of Georgia Chamber of Commerce, told GDToday.
When we talked about the cities of the GBA, Mikaberidze could name every commodity that these cities are known for immediately. Having stayed in China for over two decades, he gained a good knowledge of this country and has great confidence in the GBA. Currently, he is planning to introduce more products from the Area to his motherland.
"Futuristic", "open", "attractive", and "green"... members of the "Bridges" Discovery Tour lavished their impression of Shenzhen during their visits to Qianhai International Talent Hub, Insta360 and BYD on August 22.
Max Richter, VP Marketing of Insta360, has similar feelings with Mikaberidze. "Since we were found in 2015, we've been able to enter the market very quickly. We have a big network of engineers and suppliers here, and we can activate quickly and therefore do things very fast."
Max is from Germany and he has been working full time in Shenzhen for almost 6 years. He enjoys the atmosphere that there are a lot of young people and everybody moves quickly. The business environment is competitive because there are quantities of new companies and large sized companies competing for talents," said he.
According to Frantisek Bina, it is easy to find a job here, especially in the technology sector. He is now working for a Shenzhen company that makes audio electronics, saying, "my company was looking for employees and I wondered if they would hire me? Then we met at a trade exhibition in Europe and now I have been in Shenzhen for 5 years."
Qianhai International Talent Hub provides 6 categories of one-to-one services and 8 comprehensive services in both Chinese and English for people to develop their career in Qianhai.
Atta Ghanaat, Secretary and Member of Iran Chamber of Commerce-South China, "It's a very good place for talents if they want to make any contacts to support them, and it is a bridge between foreigners and Chinese people."
In addition, the Bridges tour members visited BYD, a leading Shenzhen-based EV enterprise, and were invited to the Nail Penetration Lab. When the nail went down and pierce into two different kinds of batteries, the MCM battery was on fire while nothing happened to the BYD blade battery, which aroused exclaim among the members.
Earlier in 2020, BYD blade battery was put into mass production, to bring battery safety back to the forefront.
"Since my very first day in Shenzhen 7 years ago, I had the chance to ride the public bus network and took the BYD bus," Rafael Saavedra, YouTube Content Creator, was reminded his memories of Shenzhen, the only city in the world that has 100 % electrified bus fleet in the whole city, which provides services to more than 20 million people.
"One of the most interesting facts about Shenzhen is how green the city is, how many parks the city has, and how the local authorities are contributing to implement new measures, to preserve the environment," Rafael added.
The Bridges members will continue their trip to Zhuhai, Qingyuan and Guangzhou in the coming days, trying to explore the technological companies and rural areas in the Greater Bay Area.
