An industrial park specializing in textiles and garments in Qingyuan, Guangdong province, is making rapid progress in attracting industries from Guangzhou and other major cities around the country.

"Many textile and clothing companies are now negotiating to settle down in the park every day," said Hu Zhonghua, chairman of the board of Guangdong Zhonghua Group Co.

In addition to companies in Guangzhou and other Pearl River Delta cities, those negotiating to set up research and development centers and production facilities include major textile and garment enterprises from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian and Sichuan provinces, as well as the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Hu said at a provincial conference on high-quality development over the weekend.

More than 4,000 production lines have begun operating in the park since the Spring Festival holiday since Saturday, he said.

Covering an area of more than 6.67 square kilometers, the park is planned as a fashion industry cluster, with an industrial production of more than 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion). More than 15 billion yuan already invested in the park's first phase of construction.

Hu said his company would spare no effort to build an integrated, digital and intelligent manufacturing platform for the whole industrial chain of spinning, weaving, garment making and digital printing and will accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries through the use of information technology in the park.

More than 3,000 high-quality tailors, designers and others from around the country have been recruited to work in the park, he said.

According to Hu, the company is planning to nurture and train more than 200,000 of those quality workers to provide talent support for the development of the textile and clothing industry within three years.

He said he believed textiles and fashion industry would have broad development prospects in the country.
