The Second People's Hospital of Foshan is located in downtown Foshan. With a history of 98 years, it is a modern 3A general hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, and rehabilitation. It is affiliated to Southern Medical University, and is a national post-doctoral research workstation. 

At present it covers an area of 23,000 square meters, and has a building area of 51,000 square meters and 1,639 employees. There are 17 functional departments, 47 clinical departments with 938 beds planned and 1,074 beds available (including 18 first-level clinical departments and 29 second-level ones), and 15 medical technical departments. In 2019, the total number of outpatients was nearly 2 million, and more than 46,000 inpatients were discharged. 

There are 1,372 pieces of medical equipment that each is worth over 10,000 yuan, total value reaching 361 million yuan. The large-scale equipment it owns includes a 3.0T silent MRI system, a 256-slice spiral CT, a digital flat-panel-detector angiography system, a digital X-ray photography system, a femtosecond laser combined excimer laser operation system, a scanning laser ophthalmoscope system, an ultrasound endoscopy system, a biochemical immune assembly line, a high-end color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic apparatus, an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation system (ECMO) and high-end blood purifiers. 

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the hospital has participated in 168 scientific research projects, published 521 academic papers, and won 19 municipal and district-level science and technology awards.
