The signing ceremony for an innovative beacon community project in the Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and the 2021 University Research Seminar for Enterprises was held at the Foshan Nanhai Guangdong Technology University CNC Equipment Cooperative Innovation Institute on Jan 21.
A total of 13 tech-affiliated projects were signed during the ceremony, in fields including semiconductors and intelligent equipment.
Covering an area of about 76 hectares, the beacon community project plans to construct a number of high-end developments such as service centers, research and development headquarters, incubation platforms, and scientific research centers. It seeks to boost the innovation-driven development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It will gather technologies, industries and build itself into a demonstration zone for high-tech industries in the Bay Area.
Kuang Dongming, deputy director of the management committee of the Foshan high-tech zone, said the signing of the affiliated projects is key to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the zone.
Kuang said in order to create a good business environment for innovative industries, the community and the surrounding incubators will work together to introduce scientific and technological projects.
After the completion of the community project, the intentional cultivation projects can be given priority to settle in.
"Next, Foshan high-tech zone will unite its well-developed national incubators to form a systematic reserve base, which will be cultivated in different incubators according to different characteristics of the projects," Kuang said.
In the future, Foshan high-tech zone will support and subsidize projects with funds, policies, and talents.
The local government said that major innovation platforms such as the Sanlong Bay high-end innovation cluster, Foshan high-tech zone, and Jihua laboratory should be further utilized in an effort to strive for large scientific installations.
The establishment of major R&D platforms will provide strategic support for solving the problems of core technologies.
