Guangdong Technology University CNC Equipment Cooperative Innovation Institute

The Computer Numerical Control Equipment Collaborative Innovation Institute of the Guangdong University of Technology was established by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong province, the Foshan municipal government, Nanhai district government and Guangdong University of Technology.

Founded in March 2013, the institute has focused on robots and automation, precision equipment, 3D printing and intelligent manufacturing technology.

It has now built the following public service platforms: the Guangdong Semiconductor Intelligent Equipment and System Integration Innovation Center, the Intelligent Robot Public Technical Service Platform, the Intelligent Equipment Public Technical Service Platform, the Industrial Internet Technical Service Platform, the 3D Printing Public Technical Service Platform, the Machine Vision Public Technical Service Platform, the UAV Public Technology Service Platform, a Medical 3D Printing Laboratory, an Industrial Robot Laboratory and a Machine Vision Laboratory.

In addition it has constructed a Maker Ideas Sharing Center, a 3D printing application innovation center, a robot innovation center, a precision equipment innovation center as well as laboratories for 3D printing, robotics, and machine vision.

The institute has introduced more than 200 Chinese and foreign talents, cultivated over 100 entrepreneurial teams, and incubated 102 technology research and development enterprises. Of them, 20 have been recognized as high-tech enterprises, nine have entered the high-tech cultivation library and three have been listed on the equity trading center of provincial high-tech zones, while one company is planning to go listed on the New Third Board.

It has provided more than 1,500 jobs, applied for more than 600 patents, trained over 500 innovative talents, and served more than 3,000 local enterprises, universities, vocational colleges and primary and secondary schools. 

The revenue from its technical services exceeded 1 billion yuan last year, driving a new output value of 5 billion yuan.

The organization also built the "Zhihui+" intelligent manufacturing technology crowdsourcing platform, which has 3,000 plus mature cases, over 1,000 service providers and data from more than 200 industry experts.

More than 200 top talents have been introduced from home and abroad, including Academician David A. Weitz of the American Academy of Sciences and Chief Scientist Potapov of the Russian Academy.

The institute has successively obtained qualifications such as the National Specialized Maker Space, the International Technology Business Incubator, the National Technology Business Incubator, the National Maker Space, the National Joint Training Base for Demonstration Engineering Professional Degree Graduates and National Postdoctoral Research Workstation. It also won the 2017 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Award, and has been awarded as a National Excellent (Class A) Technology Business Incubator for three consecutive years.
