World Intellectual Property Day Event
On April 23, in the lead-up to the 21st World Intellectual Property Day on April 26th, the Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone hosted themed activities in the Foshan Circuit Court of the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court.
According to Pan Dongsheng, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Foshan High-tech Zone, the local government has been dedicated to promoting creation, application, protection, management and services of intellectual property rights, under a principle of driving high-quality development of manufacturing industries with "innovation-led development plus intellectual property rights" so that intellectual property rights will become a new impetus for local high-quality development.
"Foshan High-tech Zone has utilized the IPR-pledged 'Quick Loan' services – the first of its kind in Guangdong Province – to facilitate business resumption of small and medium-sized enterprises, with a total annual grant exceeding 600 million yuan; in addition, a local business has won a gold patent prize in China to add to its 36 other patent-related prizes …", said Kuang Dongming, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Foshan High-tech Zone, as he summarized the "ten highlights in IPR-related work by the Foshan High-tech Zone". He also shared achievements and takeaways in IPR-related work in recent years.
For the purpose of incentivizing corporate effort in innovation and enhancing their core competitiveness via IPR, an award-granting ceremony was held at the event for "Foshan High-tech Zone IPR Intensive Companies", including a Midea Refrigeration facility, Shunde Midea Electric Heating Appliance, Lesso Tech, and Bright Dream Robotics. Ten mediators for IPR cases as well as ten IPR trainers were awarded at the event in recognition of their support in local tech innovation development.
Also at the event, a Foshan High-Tech Zone IPR Study Trip route was released, as part of local effort towards IPR-related cultural branding. The program will arrange visits to the zone's exhibition hall and other sites so student representatives will further understand local innovation strength and the significance of IPR protection.
In addition to the study trip program, representatives were invited to hear an IPR case at Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court, which enabled them to gain first-hand experience of IPR cases for higher awareness of IPR protection.
Going forward, Foshan High-tech Zone will further engage with relevant entities and business to jointly promote IPR-related work and continuously enhance IPR application and protection for greater contribution to its development and encouragement of innovation.
