6th China Innovation Challenge held in Foshan

The 6th China Innovation Challenge Foshan session was held recently in Nanhai district of Foshan in South China's Guangdong province.

Hosted by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong, the event was organized by the management committee of Foshan Hi-tech Zone (FHZ) for the second time in a row.

Customized technological solutions for enterprises

Since the event kicked off in July 2021, the organizing committee has collected 122 items of technological innovation needs from local enterprises, 91 of which were released. Over 30 technology teams from academe and research institutions, including Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Ji Hua Laboratory and Foshan (South China) Institute for New Materials, were invited for solution offering.

Seven items of technological innovation need and seven matching solutions entered the roadshow session.

"The event provides a great opportunity to communicate directly with industry professionals, understand their pain spots and difficulties, and know that our solutions can be of help," said Dr Zheng Mengjie from Ji Hua Laboratory, one of the winning teams in this event.

Policy support for technology solutions teams in Foshan

The event facilitated preliminary solutions to the technological difficulties faced by enterprises in Foshan, and stimulated the will of those high-quality entrepreneurial teams to land in Foshan as well.

Ma Yufe, founder of a new materials company in East China's Jiangsu province which is a participant of the event, was very optimistic of the market potential in Foshan and future cooperation with Huazhixin Electronic Technology Co. Ltd. based in Foshan.

Ma's team provided a matching solution to Huazhixin which met their initial expectation. The two companies have signed confidentiality agreement and pledged to carry out further cooperation in technological research and application.

According to Kuang Dongming, deputy director of the zone's management committee, organizing the innovation challenge helps to boost the upgrading of Foshan's manufacturing industry, and foster the emerging industries in the zone. The FHZ will follow up  on achievements and progress from this event.
