On April 28, the activities of the 2022 World Intellectual Property Day were held in Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone.

On the same day, the first theme park on intellectual property in Guangdong, the Intellectual Property Theme Park of Foshan High-tech Zone, was opened.

The park aims to show the history, current situation and future of intellectual property protection (IPR) in the Foshan Hi-tech Zone. and to promote the construction of intellectual property culture.

Pan Dongsheng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Management Committee of the Foshan Hi-tech Zone, said that the management committee will continue to increase policy support for IPR and improve the work system to safeguard the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The high-tech zone will take the Foshan Talent Innovation Lighthouse Industrial Park and the Fobei Zhanxin Industrial Park as new starting points to build a pilot park for IPR.

During the event, the Foshan Hi-tech Zone Management Committee signed a framework agreement with the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court and awarded licenses to intellectual property-intensive enterprises based in the zone in 2021.

In the future, the two sides will establish a cooperation mechanism for the litigation and mediation of intellectual property disputes in Foshan, and further help the Foshan Hi-tech Zone to implement the technology innovation-driven development strategy and promote the modernization of the local economy and society.

In the comprehensive evaluation index system of national high-tech zones in 2021, Foshan Hi-tech Zone ranks at the forefront in the country in terms of intellectual property evaluation indicators. Among them, the number of valid invention patents and registered trademarks contained in every 10 billion yuan ($1.46 billion) of the operating income of enterprises in Foshan Hi-tech Zone was 853.6, ranking third in the country. In 2021, the number of domestic-funded holding enterprises that obtained overseas registered trademarks or overseas invention patent authorizations was 87, ranking fifth in the country.

In recent years, the zone has built an intellectual property service platform relying on the Foshan Circuit Court of the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court. In 2021, the court heard various intellectual property civil cases in Foshan, of which the number of online filings of cases reached 4,471, ranking first in the province's circuit courts. 

Foshan Hi-tech Zone has identified 154 high-growth enterprises and encouraged enterprises to create high-value patents. Among them, singles champion enterprises have an average of 45.9 invention patents - five times the average of the high-tech zone.

The Foshan Hi-tech Zone Management Committee will further strengthen judicial protection in key areas of intellectual property, provide more services for the technological innovation of enterprises in the park, and build Foshan into a new highland for intellectual property creation, protection and utilization.
