Chaoshan cuisine festival kicks off in Maoming

The Chaoshan Cuisine Festival kicked off at Maoming International Hotel on Nov 25, and will last until the end of December. It is being organized by the Maoming Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce, and is hosted by the hotel.

Chaoshan is a coastal region in eastern Guangdong province that borders Fujian province, which has cultivated a unique language and culture over the course of centuries. It covers the four cities of Shantou, Chaozhou, Jieyang, and Shanwei.

The festival is aiming to further promote Chaoshan cuisine culture and to further promote Chaoshan cuisine to the public.

In addition to Chaoshan cuisine, the festival will also showcase featured products and customs from the Chaoshan area, including kung fu tea and the "Chu Hua Yuan (Coming out of the Garden)" coming-of-age ceremony.

According to the relevant person in charge, this festival is not only a celebration of food, but also a platform for cultural exchanges between the eastern and western parts of Guangdong. Chaoshan culture and its special dishes are introduced to people through pictures and food displays.
