Maoming tops the province in air quality

Maoming in South China's Guangdong province had excellent or good air quality on 98.9 percent of days in 2020, topping the province and 6.3 percentage points higher than the previous year, according to the city's bureau of ecology and environment.

The city's composite index of ambient air quality last year was 2.5, a decrease of 15.9 percent compared to that of the previous year and fourth in the province.

The concentration levels of all of the six main air pollutants: sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, particles with a diameter of 10 micrometers or less (PM10) and particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter (PM2.5), reached the prescribed national standards. Of these, the average density of ozone was the lowest in the province.
