A new e-commerce logistics strategic cooperative was officially launched in Maoming on April 21.

There are currently more than 3,600 e-commerce enterprises and over 8,000 WeChat businesses in the city, but most of them are separated from each other, which leads to high logistics costs and has a negative impact on the marketing of Maoming lychees.

"We should integrate all small and medium-sized e-commerce enterprises, online stores, and WeChat businesses, working together to get more sales in exchange for more favorable logistical discounts and achieving a win-win situation for fruit farmers, sellers and consumers," said Chen Ji, deputy Party secretary of Maoming.

Gaozhou Bojian Agricultural Development Co reached an official intention of cooperation with Jingdong Logistics at the signing ceremony.

"We have 800 mu (53.33 hectares) of lychees in Dajing town, which is expected to have a lychee yield of 1.5 million to 2 million kilograms in June," said Luo Guangzheng, operations director of Gaozhou Bojian Agricultural Development. "We are looking for a suitable logistics company."

"Unlike previous years, this year we're conducting a combination of direct shipments from places of origin and cold chains, trying to deliver fresh lychees to customers within 24 to 48 hours," said Zhang Linfeng from Jingdong Logistics. "Our company is able to provide cost-effective logistics services."

SF Express will also put cold chains into operation throughout the country to reduce logistics costs. "We will also attract more external e-commerce businesses to Maoming this year and make the logistic channels smoother," said Zhu Fuping from SF Express.

"Our company will set up more pick-up points in Maoming's lychee production areas, so that the delivery need not go out of the village," added Li Jianmin, deputy general manager of the Maoming branch of China Post.

According to the relevant person in charge of the event, this cooperation will help advance the construction of the regional public brand "Maoming Lychee", promote the development of the lychee industry, and consolidate the area's poverty alleviation achievements.

The first Lychee Champion Cup Competition also kicked off on the same day. This will provide e-commerce entrepreneurship practice opportunities for students from universities and secondary vocational colleges in Maoming, stimulate their innovative spirit, and further expand the e-commerce sector in the city.
