The second joint meeting among Maoming, Zhanjiang and Yangjiang took place in Maoming on Aug 2, which facilitated exchanges on the progress of relevant cooperation matters since the first joint meeting last year.

Maoming, Zhanjiang and Yangjiang are the closest cities in Guangdong to Hainan province. Over the past one year, the three cities have been exploring and promoting the coordinated development and industrial supply chain cooperation in tourism, agriculture, modern services and port-related industries on both sides of the Qiongzhou Strait to fully support the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

They have also been expanding exchanges and cooperation with the Beibu Gulf city cluster in fields such as transportation, industries and environmental protection, jointly advancing the construction of major regional transportation projects like the Hepu-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway.

Reconstruction of the Maoming-Zhanjiang section of the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway is being accelerated along with the construction of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, which will pass through Yangjiang and Maoming.

The construction plan of the Maoming-Wuchuan (a county-level city in Zhanjiang) Expressway has been completed, and the study on the expressway route along the western coast of Guangdong has also been finished.

Huazhou, a county-level city in Maoming, and Maonan district in Maoming have signed a cooperation agreement with Wuchuan in Zhanjiang to clean up floating aquatic plants in the Jianjiang River. Another agreement was signed by Maoming and Zhanjiang in June to handle ecological issues in waterways.

The three cities have planned to participate in the 2021 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo to promote their joint tourism products and deepen cultural and tourism cooperation with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
