Starting from Sept 15, non-Hong Kong residents from the Chinese mainland and Macao are allowed to enter the city without quarantine through Shenzhen Bay Port and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced on Tuesday.

The quota is set at 1,000 people per day for each of the two checkpoints, and eligible individuals must have a negative COVID-19 test result.

Lam also announced the resumption of Return2HK, a quarantine-free travel scheme for Hong Kong residents returning from the Chinese mainland or Macao, starting Sept 8.

Those returning from six high-risk areas are not included.

The scheme was temporarily suspended since Aug 5 for residents on the Chinese mainland returning from places outside Guangdong province. The scheme, rolled out on Nov 23, 2020, was a special arrangement under the pandemic and is subject to adjustment in light of the pandemic situation.
