The 2022 China Lychee & Longan Industry Conference was held in Genzi town, Gaozhou, a county-level city in Maoming, Guangdong province on May 29. It was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MOA), the China Lychee and Longan Research System, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Province, as well as the Maoming municipal people's government.

Zhang Taolin, vice minister of MOA, said that Guangdong has focused on the development of the lychee and longan industry, market, technology, and culture in recent years, adding that Maoming lychees and Chuliang longan have become famous brands of Guangdong.

Yuan Gujie, Party chief of Maoming, said that this was the third time this conference has been held in Maoming. "The city has always insisted on comprehensively promoting rural vitalization and accelerating agricultural and rural modernization," she added. "Maoming will continue to develop the lychee and longan industry, market, technology, and culture to create a new hub for the vitalization of rural industries."

Zhuang Yuequn, mayor of Maoming, said that Maoming will develop the model of "one lychee makes one industrial chain" to the "five trees, one fish, and one table of dishes" model. The five trees refer to lychees, longans, agarwood, tomentose pummelo peel  (traditional Chinese medicine huajuhong), as well as Sanhua plums, while the one fish refers to tilapia and the one table of dishes refers to the pre-prepared dishes industry.

The conference attracted many merchants from Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries, formed an international business area in Maoming, and promoted the economic development of Maoming.
