Maoming held a business meeting with officials from Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries at Maoming High-tech Industrial Development Zone on May 29.

The consul generals and commercial counselors of RCEP member states like Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Cambodia in Guangzhou, as well as representatives of 12 enterprises in Maoming attended the meeting.

Zhuang Yuequn, mayor of Maoming, noted that the economic and trade relations between Maoming and RCEP member countries, especially with ASEAN countries, are getting closer and closer.

Zhuang added that since the RCEP took effect this year, Maoming's lychee exports to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and other RCEP member countries accounted for nearly 50 percent of the total export volume, more than double compared to the same period last year.

Vanhpheng Saisomphou, consul general of Laos in Guangzhou, said that economic and trade exchanges between RCEP countries continue to grow. She welcomed Maoming entrepreneurs to RCEP member countries for investment, sightseeing, and tourism to promote economic and trade exchanges between the two sides, as well as to achieve mutually beneficial results.
