Genzi town in Gaozhou, a county-level city under Maoming's jurisdiction, has been developing lychee-themed tourism to promote its rural vitalization efforts.

It has formed a lychee industrial chain in Yuanba, Baiqiao, Maopo village, and the surrounding areas, which integrates the functions of fruit purchasing and processing, warehousing and logistics, as well as sightseeing and tourism.

Last year, Genzi town received more than 2 million tourists. During the lychee season, it received more than 30,000 tourists per day on weekends. The output value created by the lychee industry chain was 420 million yuan ($63 million), while the per capita net income of farmers can reach 58,000 yuan, which has driven the development of local industries.

Genzi town takes the 10-kilometer lychee landscape avenue and the 12-km Genzi River ecological belt as the main axis. It has developed itself into a lychee-themed village with unique Lingnan (Guangdong and the nearby provinces in southeastern China) rural characteristics.

The rural cooperative in Yuanba village of Genzi town promotes the "leading enterprises + farmers' cooperatives + professionals + farmers" development model.

The head of the cooperative surnamed Lin said that every year during the lychee season, their cooperative will purchase all the lychees grown by the villagers. On average, each household earns 200,000 yuan from lychee cultivation.

Their products are not only fresh fruit, but also lychee honey, lychee dried fruit, lychee wine, and handicraft products. They also have lychee tree customization services. After the lychees are mature, they will be delivered to customers by express delivery as soon as possible.
