Maoming opens food festival, licks plate clean

Maoming recently held the first Gaoliang Food Festival and the opening ceremony for creating Gaoliang food city.

Maoming plans to work hard on specialization, standardization and narrowing priorities down to scale, and promote the construction of a standardization system of high-cold cuisine, as well as establish a complete standardization system in terms of culture, dishes, technology, processing, raw materials, and quality.

At the event, a wide variety of delicious cold dishes were displayed. The main methods of high-cold dishes are stewed, boiled, white-cut, and steamed in water. These dishes are known for their original flavor and have distinct regional characteristics.

Four catering firms and 10 dishes from Maoming were chosen in the 2021 selection of Cantonese restaurants and cuisines by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce.

In order to develop the Gaoliang food city, Maoming is incorporating resources to create Gaoliang foods with more than 1,500 years of traditional culture and history into a well-known Cantonese cuisine.

Maoming will begin a number of Gaoliang Food Festival activities that integrate market forces, superimpose aspects that encourage consumption, and continue to support the consumer market's recovery and the high-quality growth of the catering sector.
