Maoming's water quality improvement rate ranks top 30 in China

Maoming entered the top 30 nationally in terms of water environment quality improvement rate in the national surface water assessment from January to June 2022, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

From January to June, the 12 surface water national test sections in Maoming all met the assessment targets, with its proportion of excellent sections that reached or exceeded the Category III rating was 90.9 percent, exceeding 81.8 percent of the assessment requirements of Guangdong province.

Among them, the water quality of the Shibi national examination section, which was included in the provincial key cross-section, was improved to Class IV, the water quality of the Zhaitou River estuary in the national examination section was Class III, and the water quality of the centralized drinking water sources above the county level was 100 percent.

This year, Maoming issued a water pollution prevention and control plan to promote the construction of sewage pipe network improvement projects in the Xiaodong River and Shuidong Bay. Maoming also comprehensively carried out rural domestic sewage treatment, strengthened the prevention and control of agricultural water pollution, as well as strengthened risk prevention of drinking water sources.
