Maoming wrestler wins gold medal at Guangdong Provincial Games

Maoming native Xu Jinru won the gold medal in the men's C 55 kilogram group in the Greco-Roman wrestling competition of the Guangdong Provincial Games.

Born in 2008, Xu was jointly trained by Maoming and Shenzhen in the demonstration base of the Guangdong Provincial Games. He has been training at the Shenzhen base since 2019. He has a good foundation of physical fitness and excellent technical skills.

Xu's coach Wang Benjun said that during the competition, Xu was able to overcome all kinds of difficulties and resolve them in a better way, eventually winning in an impressive fashion in the finals. Moreover, Xu has an age advantage and can also participate in the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games in 2026, when Maoming is the host. Xu said, "I hope I can achieve better results in the future."

In addition, Maoming athletes Xie Kunliang won fifth place in the Men's B 80kg class, Zhao Hongyi won seventh place in the Men's A 87kg class, and Huang Zirui won second place in the Men's A 66kg class.
