In June, pineapples in various towns in Dianbai district, Maoming, are seeing a strong harvest.

Pineapple cultivation in Dianbai is primarily concentrated in towns such as Danchang, Shuzai, and Xiaoliang, with Danchang being the primary area. The pineapple cultivation area in Dianbai currently covers over 5,500 mu (367 hectares), yielding approximately 14,000 metric tons annually with a production value exceeding 100 million yuan ($13.8 million), bringing substantial economic benefits to local farmers.

In Shuzai village, over 200 mu of pineapples are currently in their peak harvesting season. According to Huang Tusheng, the person in charge of the pineapple plantation in Shuzai village, total pineapple production at the plantation is expected to reach 250 tons this year, with the current purchase price at 10 yuan per kilogram, mainly sold to regions such as Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces.

Huang highlighted that pineapples from Dianbai are known for their sweet and crispy texture, high juice content, and rich vitamin C content, making them popular among the masses.

Huang Junyi, head of the Taiwan company Dianbai Yishun Group, said that the fruit processing company owned by the group processes over 150 tons of pineapples annually from the Dianbai production area. Their main products include pineapple beverages, pastries, cookies, and fruit tea bags, which are popular across China and exported to Japan.

To utilize the unique agricultural resources of Dianbai, such as pineapples, lychees, and longans, Yishun Group is attracting visitors from Maoming, the Pearl River Delta, and other regions for factory tours.
