Xinyi promotes integrated development of agriculture, tourism

Xinyi, a county-level city in Maoming is advancing the concept of integrating agriculture, transportation, and tourism. It combines the Sanhua plum industry with rural tourism and links 15 agricultural tourism spots along the highway to propel rural vitalization.

In 2023, Xinyi reported a substantial plum cultivation area encompassing 328,000 mu (21,867 hectares), yielding a total of 328,300 metric tons. Accommodation facilities hosted 946,700 overnight guests, with domestic tour groups accommodating 38,600 individuals, culminating in a total tourism revenue of 4.95 billion yuan ($681 million).

The Sanhua Plum Theme Park, situated in Xizhai village, Baishi town, Xinyi city, adjacent to the Luoding-Xinyi Expressway's Baishi exit, offers diverse attractions, including a waterside leisure area, forest log cabin accommodations, the Sanhua Plum Exhibition Center, a 520-meter suspension bridge viewing area, a plum picking experience zone, and a Fun Wild Park. In 2023, the park generated 180,000 yuan for the collective income of the village.

Near the Qianpai exit of the Luoding-Xinyi Expressway, Shuanghe village preserves its distinctive Lingnan rural allure, featuring unique attractions like a waterside gallery bridge, riverside orchards, and a camping base along the creek.

During the same year, Qianpai town achieved a significant Sanhua plum yield of 135,000 tons, with a total output value exceeding 1.8 billion yuan. The prosperity of the Sanhua plum industry has spurred diversified local economic development, contributing to an entire industry chain value surpassing 2.3 billion yuan.
