As May is the harvest season for lychees, Genzi town in Maoming's Gaozhou, which was also known as the hometown of lychees in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), has entered its peak tourism season.
A national demonstration town for agricultural tourism, Genzi town boasts rich cultural resources and splendid natural scenery.

Datang Lixiang Square (大唐荔乡广场)
Covering a total area of 5,000 square meters, Datang Lixiang Square owns several pseudo-classical architectural attractions, including two bell towers that are 8 meters and 12 meters tall, as well as city walls stretching over 110 meters.
A large bronze sculpture, which is 4.5 meters in height, is set up in the square, depicting the story of fresh lychees being transported from Maoming by fast horses to Huaqing Palace in Shaanxi's Xi'an for Yang Yuhuan, a concubine known for her beauty during the Tang Dynasty, to enjoy.

Hongli Pavilion (红荔阁)
Located at Jingzhu Ridge in Yuanba village of Genzi town, Hongli Pavilion was built in 1997.
China's former president Jiang Zemin planted a lychee tree by himself in front of the Hongli Pavilion in February 2000 during his visit to the town.
Visitors can enjoy a bird's-eye view of the town from the pavilion, getting a close look at both the beautiful countryside scenery and the town's prosperity.

Qiaotou village (桥头村)
Located close to Hongli Pavilion and the Genzi River, Qiaotou village is currently home to 30 households of 155 people.
The village has devoted great efforts in turning itself into an ideal destination for tourism and leisure by adjusting measures to local conditions.
At present, the village possesses completed infrastructure, including the asphalt cement roads around the village, lighting system improvements, public toilets, and waste collection points for sorted garbage.
