Maoming village chosen as national key village for rural tourism

On July 9, Boqiao village in Gaozhou, a county-level city in Maoming, was included on a Ministry of Culture and Tourism list of the second batch of national key rural tourism villages.

The village was also listed among the first batch of cultural and tourism villages of Guangdong province in 2019.

Considered as the "No 1 Village of Lychee in the World", the village's pillar industry is the lychee industry.

The village's Gongyuan Orchard, which boasts a history of more than 2,000 years and covers an area of about 80 mu (5.33 hectares), is currently the largest, oldest and best preserved lychee orchard in China, with the biggest number of lychee varieties.

There are 39 lychee trees that are over 500 years old in the orchard, with the oldest one dating back more than 1,500 years.
