In the first half of this year, the regional gross domestic product (GDP) of Maoming saw a year-on-year decline of 6 percent to 143.89 billion yuan ($20.56 billion), with the rate of decline narrowing 3.7 percent from that of the first quarter of the year.
The added value of the primary industry in Maoming was 27.42 billion yuan, up 4.2 percent year-on-year. The added value of the city's secondary industry fell by 15 percent to 46.04 billion yuan, while that of the tertiary industry reached 70.43 billion yuan, decreasing by 2.3 percent year-on-year.
The total output value of Maoming's agriculture industry in the first six months of the year was 50.82 billion yuan, and its added value was 28.02 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3 percent and 3.4 percent higher than that in the first quarter of the year.

There were 221 general contractor and professional construction enterprises with qualifications in Maoming by the end of June, 11 more than that in the first quarter of the year. They generated a total added value of 12.09 billion yuan in the first half of the year.
The added value of the service industry in Maoming totaled 70.43 billion yuan in the first six months of the year, a decrease of 2.3 percent. The operation revenue of the service enterprises above designated size saw a year-on-year decrease of 6.2 percent from January to June, with the rate of decline narrowing 4.4 percent from that in the first quarter of the year.

The city's total retail sales of consumer goods in the first half of the year was 62.09 billion yuan, down 12.8 percent, which narrowed 4.9 percent from that of the first quarter of the year.
The total volume of Maoming's foreign trade was 5.47 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 35.7 percent, while the actual utilized foreign capital reached $40.4 million, increasing by 855 percent year-on-year.
