Beibu Gulf cities' meeting kicks off in Maoming

The opening ceremony for the 11th meeting of the Beibu Gulf Organization for Economic Cooperation and the third meeting of the Beibu Gulf Organization for City Cooperation was carried out on Nov 21 in Maoming, South China's Guangdong province.

Themed around "jointly building a coastal holiday tourism destination and modern agricultural industry development cluster in China," the meetings aimed to build Beibu Gulf into a regional brand for the coastal resort tourism and modern agriculture industries, as well as improve the identity and popularity of the region's industries and products.

The 2020 Beibu Gulf Coastal Resort Development Report was released at the meetings, along with the Beibu Gulf Coastal Resort Development Proposal and the General Report on the Construction of the Modern Agricultural Industry Cluster in the Beibu Gulf City Cluster.

In addition, the Maoming municipal government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Tourism Academy. Other activities also included exchange meetings and industrial conferences.

The Beibu Gulf Organization for Economic Cooperation was jointly set up in Zhanjiang on Oct 24, 2000, while the Beibu Gulf Organization for City Cooperation was established on the basis of the Beibu Gulf Organization for Economic Cooperation in October 2016.

To date, the number of member units of the Beibu Gulf Organization for Economic Cooperation has risen to 37, which have made fruitful cooperation achievements in transportation, industries, cultural tourism, ecological protection, social livelihood, as well as governance.
