The project is presented by the Maoming central branch of China Pacific Property Insurance Co Ltd, and has WeSure, an online insurance portal backed by tech conglomerate Tencent, as its exclusive cooperation platform.

It can provide the reimbursement of both medical expenses within the scope of the basic medical insurance program and on 25 certain high-cost drugs. The maximum annual accumulative reimbursement amount of the two parts is 3 million yuan ($456,071).

In addition, 10 value-added services, including medication consultation, clinical trial application, early screening, and consultation for major diseases, as well as domestic drug reservation, purchase, and distribution, will also be provided for insured people.

People who have participated in the basic medical insurance program in Maoming are eligible for this medicare project, with no limits on ages, occupations, and household registration locations.

Online insuring can be available on the official WeChat account: gh_dbd887bcf98b and the mini WeChat applet WeSure from Dec 1, 2020 to Jan 15, 2021. The charging standard is 59 yuan per person per year.

A sum of 942 million yuan was also donated jointly by the Maoming poverty alleviation and development office, as well as China Pacific Property Insurance Co Ltd to insure impoverished people and people over the age of 65 in Wanyao village in Gaozhou at the launching ceremony.
