A modest 963,000 trips were made by tourists to Maoming in South China's Guangdong province during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday between Feb 11 and 17, generating a total tourism revenue of 1.02 billion yuan ($158.10 million).

A series of cultural and sporting activities were carried out in the city to enrich the holiday lives of non-local employees who stayed in Maoming for Spring Festival instead of leaving for their hometowns, and also to attract more tourists.

Maoming Forest Park and the Yuhu Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area were free for non-local employees with their identity cards, work passes or enterprise employment certificates.

A Madam Xian-themed parade plus ethnic music and dance performances were staged at the Former Residence of Madam Xian from the first day of the first lunar month to the eighth day. A straw art exhibition was also put on at the Land Art Park in the city's Xiangya village.

Villages and towns in the city welcomed a large number of tourists during this holiday.
