The import and export industry has been officially kick-started at Bohe New Harbor's Guanggang Wharf, with a ceremony marking the sector's first inbound voyage held at the Binhai New Area site on March 5.
The Huanglong freighter, sailing in from Indonesia, had arrived at the wharf the day before, marking the start of the import and export business in the area.
Currently, the customs office is working on customs clearance procedures and cargo supervision and control, while the boundary checkpoint is supervising the quarantine of the ship's crew.
"The first deal went well," said a person in charge of the Guanggang Wharf. "The relevant departments including customs, the maritime safety bureau and the commerce bureau have provided a lot of support and help."
Construction of designated supervision sites for imported grain in the wharf area will be accelerated, added the person in charge, as will the second-phase construction of the wharf and the construction of railways in the area.
