During the recent May Day holiday, from May 1 to 5, Maoming in South China's Guangdong province received a total of 1.09 million tourists, generating total tourism revenue of 658 million yuan ($101.67 million).
To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Maoming launched several tourist routes during the five-day holiday that combined famous revolutionary sites, while "red tourism" scenic spots around the city carried out various activities to attract tourists.
Rural ecological tourism was also favored by tourists, as Maoming lychees are in season.
