The 2021 China Lychee Industry Conference is scheduled to take place in Maoming, South China's Guangdong province, from May 19 to 20.

It will be jointly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' South Subtropical Crops Center, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Maoming municipal government.

Renowned experts and scholars in the lychee industry, representatives of lychee industry R&D and promotional units, and representatives of lychee production, sales and processing enterprises from around the country will be invited to the conference to air their opinions on the development of the lychee industry.

In addition, an exhibition of the achievements of the lychee industry and an orchard mechanization work exhibition will be carried out in order to display the progress made by the lychee industry's integrated development and Guangdong's supply-side reform.

Guangdong has a long history of lychee plantations, and the province's lychee planting area is the highest in the nation.

Maoming is the largest lychee production area in Guangdong. It currently boasts a lychee planting area of nearly 1.36 million mu (90,666.67 hectares), and is expected to achieve a lychee output of more than 600,000 metric tons this year.

The city has launched a lychee marketing campaign composed of 43 activities aimed at promoting the sale of lychees. They include Maoming lychee logo authorization, short video competitions, and lychee public welfare image ambassador selection.
